COTABATO CITY — Local Government Executives (LCEs) from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s (BARMM) mainland and island provinces have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) as part of the implementation of the Localizing e-Governance for Accelerated Provision of Services (LeAPS) Program.
LeAPS is a flagship program of the MILG in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) that supports BARMM ministries and local governments by leveraging the transformative power of data, digitalization, and people-centered governance.
The signing of the MOA on March 7, 2023, at the Waterfront Hotel in Davao City is part of the LeAPS Program’s initiation stage, in which the LGUs (local government units) entered into an MOA with the MILG, one of the BARMM’s primary governance organs, to describe, define, and commit to the roles and responsibilities that clarify the institutional arrangements and enable the LeAPS Program components to be successfully implemented and delivered.
LCEs and representatives from the following municipalities participated in the activity: Buluan, Datu Blah Sinsuat, Parang, Shariff Aguak, and Sultan Kudarat in Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur; Butig, Marantao, Piagapo, and Taraka in Lanao del Sur; Bongao, Tawi-Tawi; Talipao, Sulu; and Lamitan City in Basilan.
Another MOA was also signed during the event between the Ministry and the Local Government Academy of the Department of the Interior and Local Government Academy (DILG-LGA) for the capacity enhancement of BARMM Municipal Local Government Operations Officers (MLGOO). (โ)
