COTABATO CITY โ The Project Management Development Division (PMDD) of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government โ Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM-MILG) recently held a BARMM Design Coordination Workshop for Municipal Hall and Public Market Project at the Blue Lotus Hotel in Davao City on August 26โ27, 2023.
The workshop aimed to create consistency in the exterior architectural design of both the public markets and the municipal halls of BARMM, as well as an understanding of the structural design of both buildings showcasing the rich history of the Bangsamoro, wherein the designs are striking representations of centuries-old values and traditions, a testament to the Regionโs unique character.
The resource speaker, Architect Gloryrose Dy Metilla, emphasized that the architectural and engineering design process is critical in construction projects for several reasons, including ensuring the building is structurally sound and meets safety regulations, as well as providing an aesthetically pleasing structure that meets the clientโs needs.
This design coordination workshop is part of the PMDDโs capacity-building efforts for the LGUโs (local government unit) engineering team. The PMDD designed the coordination activity, which was presided over by its Chief, Engโr Abibazar W. Sali. He discussed the delineation of MILGโs work, duties, and responsibilities. Participants, on the other hand, were enlightened on the processes and procedures.
Participants of the Workshop were Municipal Engineers of Datu Blah Sinsuat, Sultan Mastura, Upi, Barira, South Upi, Buluan and Mangudadatu of Maguindanao del Sur; Madalum, Madamba, Ganassi, Kapatagan, Amai Manabilang, Wao, Kapai and Pualas of Lanao del Sur; Lugus and Omar of Sulu; Lamitan City, Akbar, Mohammad Adjul and Hadji Muhtamad of Basilan.
The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Areaโs (SGA) 63 barangays or villages that voted โYesโ in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.
According to the Philippine Atlas BARMM has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; undivided Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur. (โ)
