COTABATO CITY, 9th September 2023 (SDN) — Do you still remember the names of your teachers during your elementary school years? Probably, some, yes.
Whether you remember them all or not, September is the National Teachers’ Month 2023, and it’s best to pay tribute to them by remembering their sacrifices. For they were our second parents outside of our home!
In like manner, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao’s (BARMM) Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) headed by Education Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal (IQ) salute teachers in this year’s National Teachers’ Month.
“In celebrating National Teachers’ Month 2023, we pay tribute to the unsung heroes of our society – our dedicated teachers and educators. Your unwavering commitment to our learners’ overall growth is commendable — instilling knowledge, values, character, and a thirst for learning,” the MBHTE emphasized.
From September 5 to October 5 is National Teachers’ Month in the Philippines as declared in 2011 by the then President Benigno S. Aquino III through Presidential Proclamation No. 242. On January 29, 2016, Aquino signed Republic Act 10743 made the 5th of October every year as the National Teachers’ Day.
“As we look to the future of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), we recognize your pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of leaders, future professionals, critical thinkers, problem solvers, and innovators who will drive sustainable progress and peace in our region,” the MBHTE, one of the BARMM’s 15 primary ministries, added.
The MBHTE and Iqbal thanked teachers for their “dedication, resilience, and unwavering passion for education”, also calling them “beacons of hope” that shine on “the path to wisdom”.
“You are the Ministry’s partner in ensuring no Bangsamoro child or learner will be left behind.”
Under Iqbal’s administration, the MBHTE has instituted reforms in the Bangsamoro education sector, such as building new schools to add more classrooms, hiring thousands of new teachers and non-teaching personnel, provisions of armchairs, providing education-related equipment and tools (such as IT devices like Personal Computers or PCs, laptops, tablets, monitors, printers, fax machines, clocks, maps, electric fans, armchairs, among others).
On Thursday, 7th of September, the MBHTE announced another distribution and delivery of armchairs which were manufactured on the ministry’s specifications in conformity with its own design.
The education ministry said a total 3,910 armchairs were distributed to the schools division offices of (SDOs) of Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur I, and Lanao del Sur II.
Below are the recipient schools:
Other SDOs may expect more armchairs coming to their schools. (/)
