Bangsamoro Gov’t Turns Over Php18-M School Building to Buluan’s REMACADEMY

BULUAN, Maguindanao del Sur, November 29, 2023 — The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education’s (MBHTE) Education Facilities Section (EFS) turned over here today, Wednesday, a Php18.59 a two-storey school building with 10 classrooms to the Regional Madrasah Graduate Academy (REMACADEMY).

One of the 15 primary ministries of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), construction of the structure was subsidized under the General Appropriations Act of the Bangsamoro (GAAB) 2021.

Located in this municipality, the REMACADEMY is one of the higher education institutions (HEIs) directly supervised by the MBHTE through the Directorate General for Higher Education.
In his message, MBHTE Deputy Minister Haron S. Meling emphasized that the establishment of the school was directed by the late Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Founding Chairman Sheikh Salamat Hashim, and is a historical institution in the region.
Meling added that 400 pieces of signature MBHTE armchairs will be delivered soonest for the comfort of the learners of the academy.
Meanwhile, Director General (DG) of Madaris Education Prof. Tahir G. Nalg shared the updates for the sustainable development of REMACADEMY.

Nalg also said that Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Bill No. 31, An Act Creating the Bangsamoro Regional Institute for Higher Islamic Studies, repealing Muslim Mindanao Autonomy Act No. 164, otherwise known as the Regional Madrasah Graduate Education Act of 2003, was on its 3rd and final reading on November 30.
Buluan Vice Mayor Rhamla Mangudadatu-Kadalim also expressed the support of the local government unity (LGU) to this initiative and to whatever undertakings the MBHTE will be conducting in their community.

The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) 63 barangays or villages that voted “Yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.

According to the Philippine Atlas BARMM has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; undivided Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur. (✓)
