Philippines’ Rezbin Waste Technology, Singapore’s FathomX Win in One ASEAN Startup Award 2024 Manila Pre-Event

(SDN) April 24, 2024 — Using AI for MedTech and introducing ease and fun in waste disposal ruled the day in the Manila pre-event of the One ASEAN Startup Award 2024.

And the winners are FathomX and Rezbin Waste Technology after a successful pitch for US$10,000 made by Galvin Lian and Mica Martinez, respectively. They will join other winners of the pre-events for the grand final pitching competition.

With the cash, winner’s trophy the Singaporean and Filipino tech companies also tucked a partnership with Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA). ERIA Chief Operating Officer Koji Hachiyama witnessed the pitching battle, along with Ramon M. Lopez, chairperson of ERIA Governing Board, as well as other ERIA executives, with the presence of Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) led by DOST Undersecretary Leah J. Buendia for Research and Development.

PCIEERD was a partner of ERIA in organizing the Manila pre-event.

FathomX belonged to the Digital/AI Category while Rezbin Waster Technology was group with Impact Category. Each of the two winners beat four other startups in their group.

FathomX presented to the pitching judges “a unique approach in MedTech AI that aims to deploy clinician friendly solution to enhancing the existing workflow.

On the other hand, Rezbin Waste Technology is on “a mission to make waste disposal easy and fun for Filipinos.”

When the dust of the pitching duel settled on April 23, Filipino company Rezbin Waste Technology and Singaporean FathomX emerged winners in the Manila pre-event of the One ASEAN Startup Award 2024.

For the pre-events, ERIA said in a statement provided to SDN — SciTech & Digital News, criteria for eligibility,

The pre-event award of $10,000 go to the winner of each category as a research fund and be a research partner of ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Center (E-DISC).

Half of the fund should be used by the winner at the start of the research, while the remaining 50 percent is allocated on the submission and acceptance of the research output.

In relation with being the winners, FathomX and Rezbin Waste Technology get the opportunity to broaden their networks by harnessing the E- DISC network involving the startup ecosystem key players, not least national agencies from ASEAN and member nations, venture capitalists (VCs), incubators, and large corporations.

The winners will also be invited as an E-DISC research partner for report and white paper publication, including policy recommendations.

For collaboration with E-DISC a research fund is for grant with study lasting a year. Grantees have to submit the results of their research to ERIA for public publication.
