17 New Personnel Join BARMM’s MBHTE, Pledge to Contribute to Improving Bangsamoro Education Services

COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) on October 4, 2024, the oath-taking ceremony of 17 teaching, non-teaching, and teaching-related personnel in the Schools Division of Cotabato City and MBHTE Main Office.

These six new teachers, eight, non-teaching officials, and three teaching-related personnel committed to contribute in enhancing educational services in the region.

MBHTE is one of the 15 primary ministries of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), which abolished and replaced the 20-year-old Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Education Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal expressed his congratulations to these personnel who successfully took their oath and now part of the MBHTE workforce, urging them to strive in working not only for the learners but also for the whole community.

“Prioritize the needs of the community and strive for transparent governance by focusing on effective and efficient work, to maximize our impact and serve our Bangsamoro learners better”, he underscored.

The ceremony highlighted the collective commitment of these personnel in fostering a supportive and enriching environment, paving the way for a brighter future for the Bangsamoro region.

The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) 63 barangays or villages that voted “Yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction. With the recent plebiscite at SGA, the BARMM now has eight new municipalities as residents voted “Yes”.

According to the Philippine Atlas BARMM has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities (plus eight newly established under the SGA: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; undivided Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur.  (✓)
