MBHTE Distributes Hundreds of Teachers’ Kits and Learners’ Kits for Bangsamoro Schools; Construction Projects Continue

         COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) successfully conducted a series of distribution of a total of 215 Teachers’ Kits and 5,381 Learners’ Kits under the Project “Improve Quality Education in the Bangsamoro Land” (IQBAL) from February 18 to 27 in the Schools Division of Lanao del Sur II.
         Headed by Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal, the MBHTE is one of the 15 primary ministries of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

More school-related construction projects in Bangsamoro region through MBHTE

           In a related development, the MBHTE conducted a series of groundbreaking ceremonies in the Schools Division Office of Tawi-Tawi on January 13, 2025.
           One of the projects includes the construction of a Provincial Training Center Dormitory (PTCD) and a computer laboratory in Paniongan, Bongao, Tawi-Tawi. With a total budget of Php23,922,260, this project will be funded under the Special Development Fund (SDF) 2023 and General Appropriations Act of the Bangsamoro (GAAB) 2024.
           Additionally, the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a two-storey Madaris Education Learning Center also took place in Barangay Magsaggaw, Balimbing, Panglima Sugala, Tawi-Tawi, with an allocated budget of Php48,500.00.
           This new learning center aims to enhance educational opportunities for the community and is a vital addition to the region’s educational infrastructure.
            The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) 63 barangays or villages that voted “Yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.
            According to the Philippine Atlas BARMM has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; undivided Maguindanao, 36; and Tawi-Tawi, 11; SGA, eight. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur. (✓)
