COTABATO CITY — A total of 811 teaching and non-teaching personnel from the Schools Divisions of Maguindanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur I, and Lanao del Sur II officially signed their appointments and took oath today, October 29, at Cotabato City Central Pilot School, in a ceremony held by the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE).

In his message, MBHTE Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the appointees, welcoming them as part of the MBHTE workforce.

He also reminded the new teachers to serve with dedication and sincerity, emphasizing that teaching is not just a profession but a calling.

“Ang expectation ko sa inyo, unang-una (My expectation from you, first of all), make teaching as a passion — with all the attention, with all the sincerity,” he said.

“Of course, you expect to receive your salaries, but beyond that, there must be something higher than that — service to the people, service to our Bangsamoro learners. We should always have that intention, In Shaa Allah. Please be reminded of that,” he added.

The ceremony marked another milestone for MBHTE as it continues to strengthen its commitment to quality education and to the professional growth of its teachers across the Bangsamoro region.
Through this initiative, the Ministry reaffirms its mission to deliver quality, inclusive education and ensure that no Bangsamoro learner is left behind.

The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) 63 barangays or villages — now eight new municipalities — that voted “Yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.

According to the Philippine Atlas BARMM has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; undivided Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur. (✓)
