MANILA, April 23, 2026 (SDN) — Good news for 10 Regional Parliamentary Political Parties (RPPPs), but not so good for one RPPP.
On September 14, this year, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) headed by Chairman George Erwin Garcia is scheduled to conduct the first Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE) to elect 80 regular members of the Parliament (MPs).
Congress’s two chambers — the Senate and the House of Representatives — earlier approved their respective bills resetting the oft-postponed first regular political exercise in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. later signed Republic Act (RA) No. 12317 resetting the BPE.
Owing to the postponements and rescheduling of the elections, Regional Parliamentary Political Parties (RPPPs) already accredited were called by the poll body to again apply for new accreditation. And many did, in order to participate in the forthcoming historic BPE.
So, the Comelec En Banc processed the applications in a series of resolutions stamped with the date April 22, 2026, outlining and naming the initial list of 10 RPPPs granted accreditation. In the series of resolutions, one RPPP was denied accreditation.

According to the resolutions that reached SDN Online provided by a source from the Comelec, here are the initial 10 RPPPs whose application for accreditation were granted:
- Bangsamoro Party (BAPA)
- Bangsamoro Tri-Peoples Party (ABoT)
- Bangsamoro Peoples’ Democratic (Raayat Democratic) Party
- Bangsamoro Empowerment and Social Transformation (BEST) Party
- Progresibong Bangsamoro (Pro Bangsamoro) Party
- Bangsamoro People’s Party (BPP)
- Bangsamoro Federalist Party (BFP)
- BARMM Grand Coaltion (BGC)
- Moro Ako Party (OK Partylist), and
- Alliance of Indigenous, Settlers, Sama and Minorities Alliance (ISAMA) Party.
One of the biggest RPPPs, the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), headed as president by Al-Haj Murad Ebrahim, is not yet in the initial list. The UBJP is the political wing of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), chaired by Ebrahim.
SDN Online‘s source made clear the 10 represent an initial accredited RPPPs for the parliamentary polls.
In a related development, the Comelec En Banc denied the petition for accreditation of the People’s Consultative (Mushawara) Party, but left open the door for a motion for reconsideration within three days upon receipt of En Banc Resolution SP No. 26-013 “and the correction of all deficiencies in the records”.
It appeared from the Comelec En Banc resolution that Musharawa Party was not able to meet some of the criteria the poll body had earlier made a “must” or mandatory for all the RPPPs wishing to field candidates in the BPE. — EDD K. USMAN (/)
