MANDALUYONG CITY — The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has turned over two patient transport vehicles (PTVs) and medical equipment worth a total of Php26.5 million to the provincial government of Aklan and a provincial hospital to help improve healthcare services in the province.
PCSO General Manager Melquiades A. Robles led the turnover ceremony with Aklan Governor Jose Enrique Martin Miraflores formally receiving the assistance on behalf of the province.
The donation includes two PTV units granted to the provincial government of Aklan. They are expected to help improve patient mobility and emergency medical response, particularly in geographically isolated and underserved communities.
Among the beneficiaries was the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbokon Memorial Hospital, which received a low-temperature plasma sterilizer, a fully automated PCR system, four ventilators, and an anesthesia machine.
PCSO officials said the equipment will help strengthen the hospital’s diagnostic, surgical, infection control, and critical care capabilities.
During the turnover ceremony, Robles emphasized that the agency’s healthcare programs are intended to benefit communities regardless of political affiliation.
“We do not look at our charitable programs from a political perspective. The President’s instruction is clear: healthcare should not be politicized. That is precisely what we are putting into practice and implementing today,” Robles said.
He also underscored the need to ensure access to quality healthcare services for low-income Filipinos.
“It is important that poor Filipinos have access to healthcare options. Even if they are unable to pay, they should still be able to receive quality medical services comparable to those available in private hospitals,” he said.
Aside from the medical equipment and transport vehicles, the province also received its share from PCSO lotto revenues amounting to Php363,914.26, covering the period from July to December 2025.
The funds are intended to support local government programs, including health-related initiatives and other public services.
Miraflores thanked the PCSO for the assistance, saying the equipment and transport vehicles would help improve healthcare delivery and expand access to medical services for Aklan residents.
The turnover reflects the continuing partnership between the PCSO and local government units in strengthening healthcare infrastructure and services in the provinces. (/)
