COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) held its 6th Management Committee (ManCom) Meeting for the Directorate General for Higher Education (DGHE) on July 2-4, 2026, at The Farm, Koronadal, South Cotabato, which set the key priorities, aligned institutional priorities, and prepared the DGHE for the Academic Year (AY) 2026-2027.
Among the key agenda discussed were preparations for the upcoming Technical Budget Hearing, strategic directions, board examination performance, and updates on the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) of the Ministry-Supervised Higher Education Institutions (MSHEIs).
Bangsamoro Attorney General and Concurrent Acting Deputy Minister of the MBHTE, Atty. Bantuas Lucman, conveyed the full support of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Interim Chief Minister and concurrent MBHTE Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua, who continuously his policy to uphold accountability, innovation, and excellence in public service.
“The future of the Bangsamoro is sitting today inside our classrooms. The question is not whether they exist. The question is whether we are preparing them well enough,” Deputy Minister Lucman underscored.
The meeting reaffirmed the DGHE’s commitment to advancing quality, responsive, and future-ready higher education for the Bangsamoro.
In attendance at the ManCom were DGHE Officials: Director General Marjuni Maddi; Director II for Higher Education Nayza Jimlok; Lanao del Sur Provincial Director Ammal Solaiman; Maguindanao Provincial Director Anwar Upahm; Tawi-Tawi Provincial Director Mohammad Sadat A. Wahid; Vocational School Administrator II of Balabagan Trade School Billie Joy O. Bansil; Bangsamoro Kulliyah for Islamic Studies Focal Person Datuan M. Magon Jr.; Vocational School Administrator of Upi Agricultural School Alimudin C. Belon, Ph.D.; Vocational School Superintendent II of Lanao Agricultural College Dr. Jasmine B. Asum-Kurangking; and School Principal II/Administrator of Unda Memorial National Agricultural School Dr. Sittie Jalilah C. Unda.
The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, and the Special Geographic Area (SGA) with eight municipalities.
According to the Philippine Atlas BARMM has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; undivided Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur. (✓)
