SM AURA PREMIER, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City, September 17, 2026 (SDN) — Many Filipinos, perhaps, have been consuming a lot of products and services everyday, perhaps, with zero idea they are helping the Philippine economy in a big way.

These consumers contribute in expanding the economy through what they watch, wear, play, listen to, design, create, and share in their everyday lives. Simple as that.

This category of products and services is what is dubbed the “creative economy”, which in the country in 2025 was worth a staggering Php2.12 trillion, around 7.6 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). That’s according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) in a study on the Philippine Creative Economy (PCE).

It also generated 8.71 million jobs, which amounted in the same year to 17.8 percent of the country’s employment numbers.

Moreover, the Philippines exported creative goods and services worth Php747 billion (PSA-PCE), broken down into Php320.06 billion for creative goods and Php426.88 billion for creative services. — EDD K. USMAN / SDN
