(SDN) — Infrastructure projects of the Bangsamoro government has now reached Buluan and Mangudadatu, Maguindanao.

For the two municipalities the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) is constructing each a Municipal Hall. They form part of the MILG’s projects all over the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), physical signs of the dividends of peace brought about by the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) peace pact between the Philippine Government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The CAB ended more than 40 years of internecine conflict between and among Filipinos.

MILG Minister Naguib G. Sinarimbo has been spearheading the implementation of the construction projects in many parts of the Bangsamoro region, such as municipal halls, police stations, barangay halls, public markets, and other structures.

“We break grounds for the construction of two more Municipal Hall Buildings in Buluan and Mangudadatu, Maguindanao,” said the MILG head and regional spokesman.

Sinarimbo said earlier the projects are in line with the agenda of the BARMM Chief Minister Al-Hajj Murad Ebrahim, the MILF chairman.

He recalled when “Buluan lost its municipal building in the mid 1990s when it was burned down while Mangudadatu is a new municipality without IRA (internal revenue allotment) until the passage of the BOL (Bangsamoro Organic Law) in 2019.”

At the signing of the agreement in Mangudadatu the MILG distributed relief assistance to the town’s barangays as well as for Arabic teachers and pupils of their “madaris” (Islamic school).

“We thank these LGUs (local government units) for their warm welcome and their enthusiasm in completing these projects soonest and partner with the Bangsamoro Government, led by the Chief Minister Al-Haj Murad Ebrahim, for peace, development, and prosperity by sustaining the gains of the peace process,” said Sinarimbo.

MILG completes another construction project

Meanwhile, the MILG reports the completion of third building project, this time in Barangay Oring, Buldon, Maguindanao.

Newly-built Oring Barangay Hall.

“Yet another completed project. More to go,” the MILG minister exclaimed as he and village leaders inaugurated the Oring Barangay Hall.

“Today, we inaugurated and turned over another completed 2-storey Barangay Hall building for Barangay Oring, Buldon, Maguindanao.”

Sinarimbo said the municipality of Buldon was one of the battlefields of the Mindanao war for independence between the Moro ‘munahideens’ and government troops from the 70s until the War of 2000.

“Now, l it is slowly rebuilding and gearing up for development. The Bangsamoro Government is enhancing the capacity of LGUs here to usher in a new era of peace and prosperity. This project, and many more, will contribute towards that goal,” he pointed out.

Present at the inauguration included the mayor of Buldon, the vice mayor, and the barangay chairmen of the various villages of the municipality.

The establishment of the BARMM since 2019 for its three years of interim parliamentary governance has seen an unprecedented construction boom never seen in the 20 years of the now-defunct and some say unlamented Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

It is hope the dividends or gains of peace would translate into a better life for the Bangsamoro people in terms of economic prosperity and peace and security. (✓)
