Editor’s Note: On October 27, 2022, National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Administrative Services (AS) Director Abdullah “Abel” S. Macarimpas reached his 65th summer. And as everyone knows in government service, 65 years old is the mandatory retirement age. And so, the well-like and amiable Director Macarimpas’ birthday and retirement at the same time. It was a celebratory, though sad, occasion because the Maranao leader is a well-like and kind and understanding person. He was a dedicated and hardworking government servant, never known to lack commitment and fidelity to work. So, here are two of the NCMF officials who know “gare” Abel very much!
Well-loved AS Director Abel S. Macarimpas.

THANK YOU AND EID MILAD DIRECTOR ABEL MACARIMPAS!
Director Abdullah “Abel” S. Macarimpas celebrates his 65th birthday today, and with it comes his retirement. After more than three decades working in government, he now bids goodbye to the NCMF.He has shown loyalty to the agency, very hardworking, kind, dependable, and loved by all officials and employees. The NCMF became ISO 9001:1025 while he was the Director for Administrative Services.

A few years ago, he initiated the assistance extended to the three imams in Tuguegarao, which eventually resulted in their release after being illegally detained.

Everyone loves you because you have always acted in consideration of others, basta kaya mong pagbigyan. Mala kay “Tindug”, “Maratabat” ago “Takdir” ko tonganay, ko mga Muslims ago mga layok ka.

One thing I will always remember about him was how he acted during the start of the pandemic. Aside from being the first one to pledge money, he also made it a point to go out in the community to distribute relief items. Saludo talaga ako.

Eid milad, Kaka Abel, and may the next chapter of your life be blessed. Kailangan ka namin sa NCMF!

We love you! From NCMF Family

Alhamdulillah! (Dr. Jun Datu-Ramos)

Eid Milad to my dearest Papa, the greatest man I’ve known. His dedication for public service, particularly in the service of the Muslim Filipinos, is undeniably difficult to outshine. He prioritized others before himself. His generosity and camaraderie are known to everyone. He is admired for his wisdom earned through almost 50 years of government service.

Today, his service in the NCMF ends as he mandatorily retires. His legacy in NCMF and OMA (Office on Muslim Affairs, now defunct) will always be remembered. He showed how to be a great leader and a great follower at the same time.

I strongly believe that no one defeats his sincerity for his work as public servant in NCMF and OMA. Literal, “umulan o bumagyo”, he travels from Baguio to Manila to report to work. During the beginning of pandemic, Covid-19 did not stop him from helping and aid stranded Muslim communities (nagagalit pa siya pag hindi naming siya isinasama).

Even if his means is limited, he never denied help to those asking him. He is known for his bravery in defending our Muslim communities from unjust red tagging and accusation of terrorism.

As his family, we were always there to support his calling to serve the public. We never complained, because we know, Allah (SWT) blesses him and his family for his good deeds.

Even as he retires today, his service to the Muslim Filipinos continues. Nagkakasakit lang sya kung di sya makapagtrabaho. So we will still see him around. (RD Bai R.S. Macarimpas) — (/)
