BAGUIO CITY — The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF)-North Luzon is sending its regional bets to the 48th National Qur’an Reading Competition (NQRC) to compete with 34 other regional champions.
NCMF-North Luzon Regional Director Atty. Bai Raihanah Sarah T. Macarimpas and the rest of her staff and personnel are banking on their Cordilllera Administration Region (CAR) champions to have a good account of themselves.

Nohman M. Monib and Norhoda O. Ra-Ali, champions of NCMF-North Luzon’s 35th Regional Qur’an Reading Competition (RQRC) held on January 30 at Gestdan Centrum here in the Pine City.
Regional Director Macarimpas kicked off the event as she spoke before the participants and guests, rallying them to perform and do their best. She reminded the Qur’a readers that winners in the Male and Female Brackets will go on to represent NCMF-North Luzon to the national level.
This year, the 48th NQRC will be held at the Bahay Alumni, University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman Campus in Quezon City, Metro Manila.

Under the leadership of Secretary/CEO Guiling “Gene” A. Mamondiong, the NCMF Central Office has invited foreign diplomats from embassies of member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Muslim congressmen, political and community leaders, among others.
Speakers and guests at the 35th RQRC of NCMF-North Luzon delivered messages, among them, North Luzon Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Director Khadaffy D. Tanggol, former NCMF Administrative Service Director Abdullah S. Macarimpas, Congressman Mark Go represented by his wife, Honorable Sol Go, and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong represented by his Chief of Staff.


Here are the proclaimed winners of the 35th RQRC:
For the Male Category
- Champion: Nohman M. Monib
- 1st Runner-up: Jassim H. Daud
- 2nd Runner-up: Musanof Calauto
For the Female Category
- Champion: Norhoda O. Ra-ali
- 1st Runner-up: H. Omaiyyah B. Tanggote
- 2nd Runner-up: Merriam D. Magondacan
Regional Director Macarimpas, assisted by NCMF-North Luzon Pampanga Office Provincial Director Atty. Abbas Macadatar, Cultural Affairs Division Chief Ad-Drin N. Abusaman, directors from Islamic institutions in Baguio and the chairman of the Hakam (Judges).
All contestants and Hakam were given plaques of recognition with cash. Chief Abusaman gave the closing remarks. The masters of ceremony were Ustadz Acmad M. Pundogar and Ms. Aquiza M. Pundogar.
