COTABATO CITY (SDN/MILG) — The Bangsamoro Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) headed by Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal has conducted a stakeholders consultation workshop.
Focusing on partnerships and strengthening cooperation on Alternative Learning System (ALS), the workshop was organized by the Bureau of Alternative Learning System (MBHTE-BALS). It was held in collaboration with United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
The activity seeks to strengthen alliances among program stakeholders, including non-governmental organization (NGO) partners, to develop policies addressing evolving challenges in the implementation of ALS in the BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
MBHTE’s partners, such as UNICEF, International Labor Organization (ILO), SYNERGEIA, and the Bangsamoro Development Agency (BDA) presented valuable solutions, highlighting strategies to bring out-of-school young people in the Bangsamoro region to ALS learning centers.
BALS Director Daud Kadon recognizes how difficult it is for students to return to school after the pandemic, recognizing that vulnerable groups such as children and youth with disabilities, indigenous people (IP), internally displaced people (IDP), disadvantaged communities, and those living in conflict zones are most marginalized due to gaps in education programs and services.
“We understand the value of collaboration between governmental and education stakeholders. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their inspirational solutions to help the ALS program in the region thrive,” said Kadon.
“We invite all key stakeholders to join us in committing to achieving inclusive and quality education for all,” said regional focal person for ALS Faisal Dimalen.
The MBHTE emphasized that through the ALS, the goals of out-of-school children, adolescents, and adults would within reach. — EKU/MBHTE (/)
