New BARMM Senior Minister Von Al-Haq Vows to Do All He Can for the Bangsamoro

COTABATO CITY — New Bangsamoro Senior Minister Abunawas “Von Al-Haq” L. Maslamama has assured his readiness to take on his new role, promising to do his best to serve the Bangsamoro community.

In an interview with the Bangsamoro Information Office (BIO) on Wednesday, April 19, Maslamama said that sees his appointment as a big challenge, noting it is his first time to experience this kind of role. However, he assured the public that he and his team will work hard to fulfill their duties and support the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM) in promoting Moral Governance.

“Isang malaking challenge ito sa akin sapagkat first time na na-experience ko ito. But I am trying my very best , hopefully, na magampanan ang ating task,” Maslamama said. (This is a big challenge to me because this my first time to experience this. But I am trying my very best to, hopefully, fulfill our task.)

The Senior Minister recounted that prior to his official appointment, Chief Minister Ahod Balawag “Al-Hajj Murad” Ebrahim personally requested him to accept the position, to which he gladly accepted.

On April 17, 2023, the Ebrahim’s office released Maslamama’s official appointment, following the appointment of former senior minister Abdulraof Macacua as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC)-governor of Maguindanao del Norte.

As an advocate of teamwork, Maslamama plans to work closely with his colleagues to ensure thhe effective implementation of BARMM programs.

“Hindi ito kaya ng isang tao lamang (This can’t be done by one person) […] for me, teamwork is very important. That’s the reason why mayroong (there is a) team. May kanya-kanyang role doon sa direction ng ating government (Everyone has their role in the government’s direction),” the new senior minister said.

“Titignan natin at pag-aralan ang takbo ng opisina (We will see and study the operation of the office). I will invite my co-employeess/workers with me so that we can tackle and discuss and implement productively kung ano ang programa ng ating(the programs of our) Chief Minister,” he added.

As one of the executive officials of BARMM, Maslamama committed to continue to uphold the Government of the Day’s Moral Governance.

“Rest assured that lahat ng (all the) program ng (of the) Office of the Chief Minister tungo doon sa Moral Governance (toward Moral Governance), we fully support that,” he emphasized said.

Before his recent appointment, Maslamama held positions as the deputy minister of both the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) and the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG).

In addition, he currently serves as the spokesperson of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) – Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), as well as co-chair of the Joint Peace and Security Committee (JPSC) for the GPH-MILF (Government of the Philippines)-MILF.
