COTABATO CITY — Headed by Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal, the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM-MBHTE) continues its delivery and distribution of various education-related equipment and school supplies.
This is in line with Iqbal’s long-term agenda of elevating the quality of education in the Bangsamoro region, especially with its landlocked and island provinces, the latter the MBHTE has to cross the seas to bring much-needed provisions for the region’s many schools division offices (SDOs).
Iqbal has embraced the maxim for the Bangsamoro education sector that “No Bangsamoro Learner Shall be Left Behind”, which emphasizes the Bangsamoro government’s desire and goal to bring education to every Bangsamoro household.
In the forefront of the delivery and distribution is the Property and Supply Section (PSS) — headed by Chief Santhalia “Bai Mot” Abdullah.
Just early this month, MBHTE-PSS distributed supplies in the Lanao del Sur II SDO.
The supplies include 187 sets of Teachers’ Kits, 1,264 sets of Learners’ Kits, 20 bags of manipulative toys, and 100 McDonald’s Toys.
Following are the recipient schools:

- 2. Barorao Central Elementary
- 3. Calilangan Elementary School
- 4. Datu Tanggor Memorial National High School
- 5. Ilian Elementary School
- 6. Kapatagan National High School
- 7. Magolalung Oriental Elementary School
- 8. Marogong Central Elementary School
- 9. Matampay Elementary School
- 10. Purakan Elementary School
- 11. Sultan Abdulmadid Maruhom Memorial National High School
- 12. Tataya Elementary School
- 13.Tubok National High School
The distribution of the supplies was covered under the MBHTE’s Project IQBAL (Improve Quality Education in the Bangsamoro Land)
In a related development, Iqbal, who is also a Member of Parliament (MP) of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) running the BARMM government, has issued Memorandum Order (MO) No. 006, Series of 2024, enunciating the “Policy Guidelines on the Issuance of Government Permit to Operate, Renewal, and Recognition for Private Madrasah in BARMM”.
The education minister issued the MO to MBHTE Director General for Madaris Education Tahir G. Nalg, all schools division superintendents, Madaris division heads, and all other concerned.
He also called the attention of formal, and non-formal private madrasah (plural: madaris) special institutions administrators.
Iqbal issued the policy guidelines on July 7, 2023.
“These guidelines shall provide the legal requirements and standard procedures for the issuance of government permit to operate, renewal, and recognition for Formal Private Madrasah that operates five (5) days a week, Non-Formal Madrasah (Traditional Madrasah) that operates two (2) days a week and Special Institution called Tahfids Al-Qur’an Centers.”
MBHTE Deputy Minister Haron S. Meling signed MO No. 006 on January 4, on the authority of the education minister. (/)
