BARMM Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal Swears in 28 New MBHTE Officials

         COTABATO CITY — The new batch of the newly appointed officials of the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education (MBHTE) officially took their oath of office and signed their appointment papers on Tuesday, 20 February 2024, at RELC Bldg, MBHTE Main Office.
         One of the 15 primary ministries of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the MBHTE is headed by Minister Mohagher Iqbal.
         Also a Member of Parliament (MP), Oqbal led the oath-taking ceremony where he reiterated and reminded all the employees of their pledge towards exemplifying moral governance in the service of the Bangsamoro community.
         “Need natin dito [sa MBHTE] ng mga tao na mgaseserve sa Bangsamoro,” he emphasized.
          Translation: We need here in (MBHTE) people will serve in the Bangsamoro.
         “As far as our [hiring] procedure is concerned, our process is very sound,” he assured.
        These 28 officials, appointed to plantilla positions, went through rigorous screening process conducted by the ministry’s Regional Human Resource Merit Promotion and Selection Board (RHRMPSB) based on qualifications, written and online examination, and interview.

          An acceptance message representing all the appointees was delivered by Dr. Evelyn Kahal Kanain, appointed Assistant Schools  Division Superintendent (ASDS) for Sulu Division.
         “I am expecting from the BARMM leadership their full educational support, most particularly from our beloved father, the Minister of MBHTE, Sir Iqbal. Together, we will remain (steadfast) in achieving the goals and targets of the Bangsamoro educational system in Bangsamoro homeland, in shaa Allah (God willing),” said Kanain.
         Alongside the hiring and promotion processes in the Main Office, the MBHTE is continuously conducting screening processes for the teaching and non-teaching positions in the schools divisions and field level.
         “Yung naumpisahan natin na reforms, I hope and pray na kung sino man ang susunod sa amin ay ma-continue. Hangga’t andito pa ako, pinapabilis natin ang proseso [ng hiring],” Minister Iqbal concluded.
         Translation: What reforms we have started here, I hope and pray whoever succeeds us will continue them. As long as I am here, we are speeding up the process.
         The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) 63 barangays or villages that voted “Yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.
         According to the Philippine Atlas BARMM has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; undivided Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur.(✓)
