DOST Pushes S&T Frontiers for Nat’l Dev’t via 8 Priority R&D Programs to be Unveiled at ELEV8PH Event

(SDN) — As the fountain of science-focused solutions for national development, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will soon unveil eight priority research and development (R&D) programs.

DOST chief Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr. will lead the unveiling event on February 5 at the Dusit Thani Manila Hotel in Makati City, Metro Manila.

Dubbed ELEV8PH: Pushing S&T Frontiers for National Development, the event SDN -SciTech & Digital News learned from an email from the science agency that Solidum will reveal the eight priority R&D programs which were designed to drive the Philippines towards innovation-driven grgrowth.

Expected at the event are “key stakeholders from industry, academe, diplomatic corps, and the DOST research community to celebrate the groundbreaking advancements in science, technology, and innovation (STI).

Further, the DOST described the unveiling as a milestone leading to a collective effort to shape a brighter, more sustainable future.

The program covers an overview of the event proceedings; Solidum’s unveiling of the transformative R&D programs; presentation by R&D champions of the long-term goals and milestones as set forth in their respective R&D area for 2023; in-depth discussions by the DOST chief, R&D champions and the RDI directors of the Big-Ticket R&D Programs and its impact to the Philippines; stakeholders’ pledge for “Together for Tomorrow” which symbolizes their shared commitment to push forward S&T for National Develoment; and Solidum returning to the podium to deliver the final declaration emphasizing on the importance of the R&D Programs as he thanks the attendees for their presence. — (EDD K.
