COTABATO CITY — In an awarding ceremony held Thursday, September 12, the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) recognized the youth achievers in sports, academics, and faith who have recently brought pride and honor to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
These are the medalists during the 2024 Palarong Pambansa held in Cebu City last July:

Meanwhile, 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐣𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐚𝐡 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐠𝐚, who placed 7th from Mindanao State University-Marawi City, and 𝐑𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦 𝐋𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐨, who secured the 10th spot from Notre Dame University, during the 2024 Certified Public Accountants Licensure Examination, were also awarded incentives as an acknowledgment of their remarkable achievements.
Further, the MBHTE also recognized 𝐀𝐥-𝐇𝐚𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐡 𝐌𝐮𝐳𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐰𝐞𝐛 𝐁𝐢𝐭𝐨’𝐬 triumph, placing 2nd in the 44th King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Qur’an, held in Saudi Arabia last August 30.
Member of the Parliament (MP) Dr. Susana Anayatin has expressed pride the institutionalization of the proposed Php30-M budget for incentives of all achievers in BARMM starting 2025 has already begun in MBHTE.
“I give my support to that proposal, as a member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Committee on Finance, Budget, and Management. Susuportahan po natin iyon,” MP Anayatin emphasized.
Dr. Arsalan Diamaoden, chairperson of the Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BTC), also congratulated the awardees underscoring their achievement for the whole region.
“Sa bawat medalya at parangal na natanggap ninyo, naroon ang kwento ng hindi natitinag na determinasyon at pagtitiyaga… Hindi ito bunga ng swerte, ito yung sinasabi nating pinagsamang disiplina, tapang, at suporta mula sa inyong mga coach, pamilya, at buong komunidad ng Bangsamoro,” he said.
In his message, Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal committed that the MBHTE will continuously acknowledge and be proud of youth achievers in different fields in BARMM. The MBHTE pledged to extend quality education among learners at all levels.
Established in 2018, the Bangsamoro region, by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) 63 barangays or villages that voted “Yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction. With the recent plebiscite at SGA, the BARMM now has eight new municipalities as residents voted “Yes”.
According to the Philippine Atlas BARMM has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities (plus eight newly established under the SGA: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; undivided Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur. (✓)
