MANILA, January 20, 2026 (SDN) — The Department of Tourism (DOT) headed by Secretary Ma. Christina Frasco expects a better tourism prospects for the Philippines in the Year of the Fire Horse.

She also revealed that around 5,000 delegates from member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are expected to come to the country for year-round tourism-focused events to be held nationwide.

“We will have delegates from all over the region. we will also have many buyers who will support our local destinations. And, of course, our ministers will also be coming, and the ASEAN meeting will happen all over the Philippines in the entire year and this will bring in at least 5,000 official delegates. So, count in the an unofficial delegates and our tourists in the Philippines will multiply,” said Frasco, a former three-term mayor of Liloan, Cebu.

The country’s lady DOT chief made these revelations in the morning DZMM TeleRadyo program today of anchors Alvin Elchico and Doris Bigornia.
