GENERAL SANTOS CITY — The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) led by Secretary Sabuddin N. Abdurahim has paid a courtesy call on Malapatan Mayor Salway “Jun” D. Sumbo, Jr. to strengthen collaboration in delivering programs and services that promote the welfare of Muslim Filipinos.
In the visit to the Region XII local government unit (LGU), Abdurahim was joined by some of the NCMF Commissioners, among them, Atty. Hussin Ututalum Amin, Hadji Usop “Joe” Z. Kasan, Bae Baicon Cayongkat-Nuska, Sambitory O. Dimaporo, and Atty. Syed Kamal Reza L. Ampatuan, together with SOCCSKSARGEN (Region XII) NCMF Regional Director Atty. Gaply Quituar, the regional team, and personnel from the NCMF Provincial Office in General Santos City.
The meeting highlighted the importance of strong partnerships between the NCMF and local government units in ensuring that essential government programs and services reach Muslim communities, particularly those in underserved and geographically isolated areas.
Through close coordination with local leaders, the Commission continues to advance its mandate of promoting the rights, welfare, and development of Muslim Filipinos.
Following the courtesy call, the NCMF conducted relief operations under its TABANG Project, providing assistance to Muslim families affected by the recent earthquake and Typhoon Inday. The initiative reflects the Commission’s commitment to delivering timely humanitarian aid and supporting communities during times of disaster and recovery.
The engagement in Malapatan demonstrates the NCMF’s continuing efforts to provide responsive public service through collaboration, compassion, and community-centered programs. By working hand in hand with local government partners, the Commission remains committed to improving the lives of Muslim Filipinos and building more resilient communities across the country.

NCMF-North Luzon Continues implementation of Health and Wellness Program
Meanwhile, the NCMF-North Luzon under the leadership of Regional Director Attorney Bai Raihanah Sarah T. Macarimpas continued its implementation of the Health and Wellness Program for its constituents covering its sphere of jurisdiction.
This was in accordance with the NCMF-North Luzon Region’s commitment covering Regions I, II, III, and Cordillera Autonomous Region) to improving constituent health and well-being as it successfully implemented a Health and Wellness Program in Bulacan.
The Settlement Division of NCMF-North Luzon Region arranged the activity, which took place on June 19, 2026, at the Malolos Public Market in Malolos, Bulacan. This was aimed to make basic health services more accessible to market sellers, workers, and local communities by providing free medical screenings and wellness support.
The program was conducted to:
- 1. Provide free blood pressure monitoring to identify individuals at risk of hypertension;
- 2. Offer free blood sugar screening to detect possible cases of diabetes;
- 3. Distribute essential vitamins to promote general health and immunity; and
- 4. Increase awareness of preventive healthcare and healthy lifestyle practices.
Nurse II Nurzhalyn S. Jaji led the activity which served beneficiaries comprising market vendors, workers, and local residents in Malolos Public Market and nearby communities.
The Health and Wellness Program conducted at Malolos Public Market was successfully implemented and achieved its objectives of providing basic health services and promoting awareness of preventive healthcare. It demonstrated the NCMF-North Luzon’s Settlement Division’s commitment to extending essential services to communities and improving the overall well-being of constituents. (/)
