QUEZON CITY — On November 05, 2024, National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) Secretary Sabuddin N. Abdurahim paid a courtesy call to the new secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Juanito Victor “Junvic” Remulla and discuss various topics.
The NCMF headed visited the DILG chief at his office in the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC), Pasay City, Metro Manila.
Remulla warmly welcomed and received the Muslim leader.
The first meeting between Abdurahim and Remulla brought together two leaders with deep provincial governance experience and a shared commitment to addressing the needs of Filipino Muslim communities.
Abdurahim, a former board member of Tawi-Tawi, one of the five component provinces of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), highlighted key issues including Halal development, Madrasah education, and the annual Pilgrimage to Makkah, emphasizing their cultural and religious significance for Filipino Muslims.
Remulla, a former governor of Cavite, expressed his support and understanding of the importance of these issues as he recognizes how initiatives like Halal, Madrasah, and a dignified Hajj can contribute to the well-being and inclusivity of Muslim Filipinos.
Together, they outlined a vision for enhanced cooperation between DILG and NCMF, with a focus on creating policies that respect cultural practices, support community needs, and promote unity across the nation.
