NCMF Secretary Sabuddin Abdurahim Leads Mission in SOCCSKSARGEN to Extend Assistance to Quake Victims, Holds Dialogue with Muslim Constituents

GENERAL SANTOS CITY — The National Commission on Muslim Filipinos led by Secretary Sabuddin N. Abdurahim visited SOCCSKSARGEN (Region XII) recently to bring relief aid for quake victims and consulted with affected Muslim residents.

NCMF-SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Office, through the General Santos City Provincial Office headed by Aida P. Seddic facilitated a two-day Relief Assistance Program of the Bureau of Muslim Settlements (NCMF-BMS) headed by Director Sultan Masideng M. Salic, in collaboration with the Planning Service (PS) under Director Haidee V. Ampatuan.

On the first day of the activity, 23 July 2026, the NCMF Provincial Office team received the relief items and ensured the necessary coordination. In the evening, Secretary Abdurahim, together with NCMF Commissioners and officials, convened a dialogue with Muslim Elders, Muslim Organizations, accredited Sheikhs, provincial and city representatives, and other stakeholders from Sarangani Province and General Santos City in a dinner meeting held at the Social Hall, NCMF Building, Matalam Street, General Santos City.

The meeting was aimed to strengthen partnerships between the NCMF and community leaders, where the Secretary underscored the programs and services of the Commission for the Muslim communities in his message.

On July 24, in the morning, the NCMF delegates, led by Secretary Abdurahim, paid a courtesy call to Malapatan Mayor Salway D. Sumbo, Jr. Following the visit, the team proceeded to Markadz Shahabi, Sapu Masla, Malapatan, Sarangani Province to distribute 550 bags of rice and gallons of drinking water to Muslim communities affected by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake and Typhoon Inday.

In the afternoon, the team led by Director Salic, together with Director Ampatuan, Provincial Director Seddic, and Acting Chief Aida D. Madale of the BMS – Relief Assistance and Disaster Coordination Division (RADCD), proceeded to Maasim, Sarangani Province, to distribute relief goods to the affected Muslim communities. The same number and type of items were received by households from Barangays Daliao, Lumatil, Lumasal, Kanalo, and Pananag, all in Maasim, Sarangani Province.

These initiatives reaffirm the Commission’s steadfast commitment to deliver timely, equitable, and culturally sensitive assistance to families impacted by calamities. In partnership with allied agencies, the NCMF continues to uphold its mandate of serving communities with dignity, compassion, and respect.

NCMF officials present during the two-day activities included Commissioners Usop “Joe” Z. Kasan, Bae Baicon Cayongcat-Nuska, Sambitory O. Dimaporo, and Atty. Syed Kamal Reza L. Ampatuan.

The NCMF Central Office extends its gratitude to the NCMF–SOCCSKSARGEN team, headed by Acting Regional Director Atty. Gapor G. Quituar, Chief of Settlement Division Nashruddin Calib, and the entire Regional Office personnel for their invaluable support.

Special recognition is extended to the NCMF – General Santos personnel, Mr. Mosmar Mamad and Ms. Roselaini Ali, together with BMS staff Sahraman C. Disomimba, whose dedication and tireless efforts truly ensured the success of this notable undertaking.
