HUAWEI DONGGUAN CAMPUS, Guangdong, China, June 9, 2021 (SDN) — Chinese tech titan Huawei Technologies today opened to visitors the doors of its Global Cyber Security and Privacy Protection Transparency Center here.

The sprawling Dongguan Campus, which SDN — Science & Digital News visited before the pandemic in 2019 is home to thousands of researchers, engineers, and scientists, all tech-savvy, who are working on technology and innovation. It’s not actually a school campus in the academia sense, but a sanctuary to many of the company’s over 80,000 R&D brains.

Karenina “Karrie” Escueta-Buenafe, Huawei Philippines senior public relations manager, said the center is a new building in the 20,000 square meters technology-inclined community. Visitors to the campus, including this journalist, admired the beautifully painted buildings many of them of European type architecture and design.

Welcoming the center’s visitors was part of the grand opening ceremony as dignitaries from some parts of the globe joined the event, which was both in-person and online.

Huawei emphasized the center — opened to business as cyber security threats have been mounting across the globe — is geared toward “delivering on our commitment to consolidate openness, transparency, trust and collaboration in the digital world.”

The world’s top ICT company added in an email sent by Escueta-Buenafe:

“Today, digital technology has played an irreplaceable role in keeping our lives on track and our businesses running smoothly. At the same time, we see growing challenges relating to cyber security and privacy protection. Huawei looks forward to collaborating with stakeholders to jointly address the challenges through technological innovation, standards/certifications, and improved governance.”

Serving as a platform for communication and cooperation with stakeholders, the center has three main functions:

During the opening program the company launched its White Paper titled Huawei Product Security Baseline. (✓)
