BPI Holds 3rd Cyber Protect Conference on July 30 in Makati City

(SDN) — Now on its third edition, the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) will hold its Cyber Protect Conference on Wednesday, July 30, at Makati Shangri-La in Makati City, Metro Manila.

Demonstrating the event’s significance, President Ferdinand R. Marco, Jr. is expected to deliver a message for the event.

The theme of the conference revolves around “Global Best Practices in Consumer Protection: New Threats, New Defenses”.

It will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at second floor of the 5-star hotel’s Rizal Ballroom.

Sen. Mark Villar and Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary will be the two Keynote Speakers for the day-long event.

“This conference offers a dynamic program designer to equip you with the latest knowledge and strategies in cybersecurity,” the BPI said in its invitation.

A battery of international and national speakers has been lined up for the event, including from finance, diplomatic corps, Congress, academe, industry, government, cybersecurity community, security sector, and others.

BPI President & CEO TG Limcaco leads the speakers’ lineup, that includes Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Deputy Governor Elmore Capule, Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Dató Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino, Rep. Brian Poe Llamanzares (chairman, Global AI Council of the Philippines), Philippine National Police (PNP) Brig. Gen. Bernard Yang (acting director of PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group), Acting Program Director Philip Kwa (Master in Cybersecurity, Asian Institute of Management, AIM), Jonathan Paz (BPI Enterprise Information Security Officer and Data Protection Officer), NCC Group PLC Senior Advisor Ade Clewlow MBE, Atty. Maria Theresa Spatula (National Privacy Commission, NPC Enforcement Office), Lito Averia (co-founder, ASEAN Japan Cybersecurity Community Alliance), Ken Palla (former director, MUGF Union Bank), and Ms. Ma. Cristina Asis (chief, Risk Officer, BPI).

Moderators of the landmark cybersecurity event are Atty. Richard Leo Balbueza, Security, Committee on Banks and Financial Intermediaries, House of Representatives; ICT Policy Analyst at Secure Connections Mary Grace Mirandilla-Santos; Eng’r Pierre Tito Galla, head, Security and Compliance Department, Enshored Inc.; and Dr. William Yu, Network security expert, Secure Connections.
