Media Release:
FRONT-LINERS in the battle against the coronavirus are sacrificing a lot. Including their lives.
And this is not lost on their fellow Filipinos, including from the private sector.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora has made this clear, which he enunciated as he received two prominent visitors to the city bearing food donation.
He welcomed Zero Hunger Task Force chair Secretary Karlo Nograles and McDonald’s President and CEO Kenneth Yang to the city.
Nograles and Yang came to turn over 2,100 meals for healthcare workers and city and barangay front-liners through the McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen (MKK) and Ronald McDonald House of Charities (RMHC), in support of Pilipinas Kontra Gutom initiative.
The mayor who just celebrated his 43rd summer described the donation as “clear and resounding message” on the value of front-liners.

Food donation a boon to healthcare workers
Zamora thanked Nograles and Yang for the meals and said that this was a very thoughtful way of saying thanks to our front-liners.
“Ipapamahagi natin sa mga front-liners pati sa barangay front-liners natin ito. Alam naman nating sila po yung araw-araw na lumalaban sa pandemya ng Covid-19,” the mayor said. (We are going to distribute it to the front-liners, including our village front-liners. We know they are the ones fighting Covid-19 pandemic every day.)
Nograles also thanked the mayor and the front-liners for their efforts in curbing the spread of Covid-19. He also expressed his gratitude to McDonald’s for helping not just in the fight against the pandemic but also in the government’s efforts to eradicate hunger in the country.
“Hindi namin magagawa ito kung wala ang suporta ng private sector. Nagpapasalamat kami sa McDonald’s Philippines sa tulong at suporta na binibigay nila,” Nograles added. (We can’t do this without the support of the private sector.)
McDonald’s Yang, for his part, committed continued support to the programs and projects of the national and the local government saying, “McDonald’s is here for both national and local government especially to help in the fight against Covid-19. We’re very happy to be here to support the communities we serve.”

Aside from McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, Dole Philippines, Johnson and Johnson, San Miguel and Metrobank Philippines are also part of the group from the private sector helping the Zero Hunger Task Force’s Pilipinas Kontra Gutom initiative.
Zamora led the distribution of the meals to San Juan City’s front-liners.
“We thank Sec. Nograles and Mr. Yang for choosing San Juan City as one of the beneficiaries of this initiative. This simple act of kindness has a large and lasting impact to our recipient front-liners, a clear and resounding message to them that they are valued here in the city and we appreciate all their sacrifices to defeat this pandemic,” Mayor Zamora said.
