(SDN) — The Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) has completed another new barangay (village) hall, this time for Barangay Campong Inudaran, Marantao, Lanao del Sur.

Interior Minister led the turnover ceremony a few days ago, marking another milestone for the MILG’s “construction boom” in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The BARMM is composed of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, and the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area (SGA) comprised of 63 barangays or villages in North Cotabato that opted to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.

BARMM was established as a new political entity (NPE) by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB).

Sinarimbo, also the BARMM spokesperson, at the rate construction projects of MILG are being completed, would be very busy in inaugurating and turning over new buildings for Bangsamoro communities.

Buildings and other physical projects of the MILG, being implemented under the direction of the Office of the Chief Minister (Al-Hajj Murad Ebrahim) include Municipal Halls, Philippine National Police (PNP) Stations, Public Terminals, Public Markets, Tourism Centers, Water Desalination Plants/Facilities, and Water Systems, and others/

On March 7, 2022, the MILG head led the turnover in Marantao of the new Barangay Campong Inudaran Hall, built at a cost of Php3.5 million.

Many more building projects are being constructed and several others already finished, inaugurated, turned over and now open for business to serve residents.

Meanwhile, MILG-Sulu, coordinating with the Provincial Tourism Office of Sulu and the BARMM Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism (MITI) conducted also on the same day a training on cultural preservation and promotion.

This as the Bangsamoro region has many cultural sites and tourism-oriented locations, and is striving to attract visitors.

“It is a big leap to promote the tourism of Sulu. but we are expecting tourists here to showcase the beauty of our province,” said Emini T. Kadiri, the provincial director the MILG-Sulu.

On other hand, Sulu and the other provinces of BARMM must have to work even triple times harder than other regions of the country because of concerns on peace and security.

Hopefully, the Bangsamoro region shall be able to erased the stigma of violence. (✓)
