(SDN) — Senatorial candidate and former Ifuago congressman Teddy Baguilat, Jr. has received endorsements from various groups for his candidacy.

The Ifugao native is aspiring for a Senate in the May 9, 2022 national and local elections (NLE) under the ticket of Vice President Leni Robredo.

Datu Bensaudi T. Lumenda, who chairs the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) Junior Officers for Peace and Development (MJOPD), revealed this to SDN — Science and Digital News.

He said many people of Mindanao have come together in unity for Baguilat’s candidacy.

“We are committed to helping congressman Teddy Baguilat win a seat in the Senate through lawful means,” Lumenda said. “We believe he can help us sustained the Mindanao search for peace and economic development.”

MJOPD Chairman Lumenda said this is one of the reasons the groups have pledged support for Baguilat.

He said the other groups for Baguilat are the MNLF for Indigenous People chaired by Datu Didilusan Arroyo, Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) for Indigenous People headed by Abubakar Camping, a number of MNLF Misuari  commanders, some MILF commanders, and MNLF National Capital Region.

Lumenda and his fellow supporters promised to work for Baguilat’s candidacy by convincing their respective families, relatives, and friends to help put an IP senator in the Upper Chamber of Congress.

It was learned that Baguilat has a platform that embraced enhancing culture, social and tribal cohesion, and protection and preservation of the environment.

The Ifugao native is also a journalist, an activist, and as a politician he advocates IPs’ and minority’s rights.

He was former governor of Ifugao from 2007 to 2010, and former congressman of the lone district of Ifugao from 2010 to 2019, among many of his elective positions.
