COTABATO CITY (SDN) — Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) Minister Naguib G. Sinarimbo had a busy day as usual on Tuesday, December 20, 2022.

The MILG is one of the primary government organs of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), which is comprised of six provinces, three cities, and a 63-barangay Special Geographic Area (SGA) in North Cotabato that joined the Bangsamoro government.

Sinarimbo, the spokesperson of the BARMM under the leadership of Chief Minister Ahod Balawag “Al-Hajj Murad” Ebrahim, reported that he had a number of engagements on Tuesday.

MILG and MTIT signing Memorandum of Agreement to implement Project Tugon (Project Response) for former combatants of BIFF, Maute Group, and Abu Sayyag Group worth Php31 million.

He said these are a Peace and Order Council meeting in Kidapawan, North Cotabato; signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Minister Abu Amri Taddik of the Ministery of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT); received a delegation from the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), and a meeting with several local chief executives (LCEs) of the BARMM.

Here’s the MILG chief’s report on his many engagements on December 20:

1. I joined Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Jr. (of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity or OPAPRU) in the Peace and Order Council meeting in Kidapawan today upon the invitation of our dear Governor Lala Taliño-Mendoza to help find durable solution to the conflict affecting our communities in Pikit and Aleosan. We have agreed to take together several steps to stabilize the peace and security in the areas that will lead to finding more permanent solution to the problem.

2. Signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Minister Taddik of MTIT to partner in the in the implementation of the skills development training and livelihood component of our Project Tugon whose beneficiaries are former combatants of the BIFF (Bangsmoro Islamic Freedom Fighters), Maute Group, and ASG (Abu Sayyaf Group). We will transfer to MTIT as our implementing partner of these components of the program a total of more than Php31 million to benefit 250 former combatants of these groups who have decided to return to the fold of the law.
Exit meeting between MILG and UNHCR.
3. Received personally the delegation of the UNHCR or the United Nations High Commission on Refugees led by Ma. Ermina Gallardo, head of their Manila Office, for their exit call. We have been partners with UNHCR for a long time especially on addressing the challenges posed by displacements as well as partnership on protection programs. I thank the UNHCR for all their services in the region and we agree to continue to partner despite the closing of their office in Cotabato City.
4. Meeting with several Mayors on our continuing engagement with LGUs to better our partnership in pursuing service delivery and better governance in our communities.
It was a glimpse on a day in the life of a Bangsamoro official which, Sinarimbo, apparently, has no complain. (/)
