Bangsamoro Gov’t Builds 2 New Schools, Distributes Teachers’, Learners’ Kits

COTABATO CITY — The Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education, through its Property and Supply Section, conducted distribution of school supplies in Upi, Maguindanao del Sur.

Sefegesen Elementary School (SES) in North Upi received a substantial allocation, including 124 learners’ kits, five teachers’ kits, 24 bags of manipulative toys, and sets of 15 charts and 15 flashcards.

Similarly, Fabian Marcos Elementary School (FMES) in South Upi benefited from this initiative with 56 learners’ kits, oe teacher kit, 12 bags of manipulative toys, and sets of 10 charts and 10 flashcards.

It’s noteworthy that these distributions are part of the broader initiative known as Project IQBAL, underscoring the commitment to advancing educational opportunities in the region.

The MBHTE, one of the 15 primary ministries of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), through its Education Facilities Section, broke ground on December 12, for the construction of two units of 2-storey, 4-classroom Public Madrasah buildings at Sultan Dumalundong Municipality, Lanao del Sur II.

The first project, located at Barangay Malalis, will be subsidized under the General Appropriations Act of the Bangsamoro (GAAB) 2022.

Meanwhile, the second project at Barangay Bacayawan will be funded under the Special Development Fund (SDF) 2021.

Amounting to Php7,736,643.85 each, the construction of said projects will help the educators and learners in attaining a quality and balanced education in the region.

The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the Special Geographic Area’s (SGA) 63 barangays or villages that voted “Yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.

According to the Philippine Atlas BARMM has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; undivided Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur. (✓)
