CLUB FILIPINO, Greenhills, San Juan City, January 5, 2026 (SDN) — Members of the quad media, still feeling the holiday hustle and bustle, woke up early today, Monday, dragged their weary body from bed and hastened to this historic events place to hear and listen to the first press conference of the Year of the Fire Horse. “Emergency press conference”, the media advisory emphasized.

Voila!

Its the ever-fiery Ilocano leader and businessman Chavit Singson, kingpin and former governor of Ilocos Sur, holding the emergency media briefing ” to release never-before-seen evidence and personal testimonies concerning the legacy of Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. and the current administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr.”

The media advisory cited the Ilocos Sur leader’s statements about “government accountability,” he was ready to unfold a “Big Revelation” which carries the promises of clarifying historical narratives and address current national issues the country is facing.

Among those he cited at the briefing included whistle-blowers Cezarah “Sarah” Discaya, contractor,  and Orly Guteza.

Singson said because they revealed pay-offs and distribution of flood control projects money, Discaya of St. Timothy Construction is now in jail to prevent her from exposing more details, while Guteza, retired member of the Philippine Marine, is now allegedly with Martin Romualdez, former speaker of the House of Representatives, to make him reverse his testimony.

He also mentioned Ako Bicol Party-list’s Zaldy Co, former congressman now in hiding who, in a matter of seven days, was charged in court in relation with his role on the scandal that costs the Filipino people trillions of pesos through ghost, sub-standard projects.

He said Discaya, who admitted distributing kickback money was charged in court within 21 days and is now in jail; Co was charged in just seven days.

Singson revealed that he was about to reveal what he described as “secrets” last year but changed his mind as he remembered the biblical significance of “40” — aligning it with the ouster of the then-President Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr., to significant events in the lives of prophets — Noah, Moses, and Jesus Christ (as far as Muslims are concerned).

“This is the grand conspiracy, they are lying to our face,” he asserted.

“I believe in God. I believe in miracles. I believe in destiny. I believe that Marcos will be ousted. I am dead sure something will happen.”

Singson recalled President Marcos, Jr. saying he started and he will finish it, concerning the flood control projects anomalies. “No, Bongbong Marcos is a liar,” he claimed.

It was President Rodrigo R. Duterte who first revealed anomalies in the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA) and now he is in The Hague, he recalled. Marcos, Jr. should have taken the cue from Duterte but he still signed it.

While at it, Singson also revealed plans for a “One Time, Big Time” protest rally which he wants to be held soonest time possible.

“I will talk to Church leaders, those who are against corruption (to join). We are not going to be choosy about those will participate, anyone can join including the leftists,” he said, as he also called on the military and the police to demonstrate their stance against corruption.

His call includes Philippine National Police (PNP) Acting Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr.

“I will go to Malacañang to debate with the President on why they are still sitting in the Palace,” he added, in spite of all the issues being raised against the administration.

He did not fail to mention that Undersecretary Claire Castro, the presidential spokesperson, of whom he has been in a verbal tussle, was a fierce critic of Marcos, Jr., but now a supporter.

But a highlight of his meet-up with the news media is his message to the head of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), titled “Open Letter to Gen. Romeo Brawner, Jr. on which he challenged the general to stand up for Filipinos and express his stance on the corruption now eating up the nation.

“I write this letter not as a political figure, but as a Filipino who has lived through wars, coups, assassinations, dictatorships, betrayals, and revolutions. I ha e buried friends, seen presidents rise and fall, faced real enemies, and watched our nation collapse more than not because foreign forces, but because good men chose silence,” he started his message.

He said having been in the middle history many times he knows the smell of a dying nation. “General Sir… I smell it again.”

The Ilocos Sur leader said the nation’s enemy today is not foreign but “inside our home.”

Singson plans to ask AFP and PNP officials to discuss the corruption issues before are summoned to Malacañang

“Our nation is collapsing not because of foreign aggression, but because corruption has eaten us from the inside.”

He apparently wants the top military official of the country to refrain from blaming China for the problems of the Philippines.

But, he said, “China is not stealing billions from our national budget…China did not mastermind the flood control anomaly. China did not cause the peso to crash, the economy to bleed, or investors to flee.

“Let us stop fooling ourselves. The cancer is not the West Philippine Sea. The cancer is sitting comfortably in air-conditioned offices, smiling at cameras while draining this country dry.”

In the question and answer after his presentation of videos which he said are witnesses to what’s going in the country, and his reading of the letter to Brawner, he was asked if China had something do with the press conference.

“No, China is not behind this. I have not talked to anyone in China,” he vehemently rejected the idea.

Then he said, “I am pleading to the generals and junior officers to declare your stand, kaya kailangan na mawala si Bongbong.” He said meant to the police to arrest the President, as wished that “corrupt officials are weeded out for the future of our children.”

Singson also called on the opposition to act and join the soon to be conducted “One Time, Big Time” protest rally against corruption.

On the other hand, he sent an advice to the President. “My advice to my former friend (Marcos, Jr.): Just surrender, you can’t escape this.”

He said he will ask the AFP and PNP officials to discuss the issues before they are called to Malacañang as he again asked the youth to stand up for their future. — EKU (©)
