Media Release:

MAKATI-based school iAcademy, and PwC Philippines, a member firm of one of the largest networks of professional services firms in the world, have partnered to offer free online workshops for students who aspire to be accountants.

The four parts workshops concluded on June 26.

PwC Philippines, which is committed to delivering quality in assurance, advisory, and tax services, has started sharing its expertise to incoming college students through a four-part webinar series where workshop attendees will learn the “language of business” and discover the common concepts related to accounting.

“We are thankful to PwC for letting us share with our students their expertise in accounting. In this way, our students will get to hone their analytical skills and get a glimpse of accounting concepts at an early stage,” Vanessa Tanco, iAcademy president and CEO, said.

At present, the educational institution is set to offer Bachelor of Science in Accountancy program under its School of Business and Liberal Arts. The program prepares students based on theoretical and practical mentorship that will guide them in analyzing and recording business transactions.

Offered with Philippine-based and internationally acclaimed partners including PwC, the course provides students with knowledge and skills on assurance and audit services for financial planning and reporting, tax-related and advisory services, organizational decision-making, among others.

Marvin Madrigalejo, one of the workshop’s facilitators and works as a Senior Manager of PwC Philippines’ Client Accounting Services unit, shared that the workshop series will teach students on how accounting is used as a business language for all stakeholders.

“One of the important things that students will learn from these workshops is the analysis of business transactions and the basic book of accounts that businesses use for accounting purposes. It’s good to know that we are currently holding these workshops for beginners so they would be immediately introduced to the concepts of accounting even before they enter college,” Madrigalejo said.
