At the seat of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in Cotabato City, he honored the Ministry of Interior and Local Government (MILG) as he paid a courtesy call on Interior Minister Naguib G. Sinarimbo, who hosted the highest ranking policeman of the Philippines.

“We thank the Chief PNP Police General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar for visiting the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and for joining us in the celebration of Eid ul Adha,” said Sinarimbo.

We discussed peace and order issues in the Region and we briefed him on the implementation of our programs in support of the PNP such as the ongoing construction of 4 municipal Police stations, distribution of 5 Police patrol vehicles, and the procurement of additional 5 police stations in the region.”

Eleazar’s visit at the Bangsamoro government’s seat of power coincided with the Islamic world’s celebration of the Feast of Sacrifice (Eid’l Adha in Arabic) on July 20.

President Rodrigo R. Duterte earlier declared the day as regular holiday for all Filipinos nationwide to join the observance, a once-in-year festivity.

The chief PNP first went to visit police stations in Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Basilan. After his brief visit to Maguindanao in Cotabato City, he later left for Lanao del Sur, the last leg of his BARMM-hopping.

Comprising the Bangsamoro region are the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, as well as the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi. Rounding out the BARMM jurisdiction are 64 villages or barangays in six towns in North Cotabato province.

In an article on Philippine National News (PNA) authored by Central Mindanao reporter Edwin Fernandez, described the country’s top policeman’s positive assessment of the BARMM Police Regional Office (PRO-BARMM) in particular and in the country in general.

“The police in the Bangsamoro region is now we’ll organized, well-disciplined, and more ready to serve and protect the people,” he told Sinarimbo in their meeting. Eleazar arrived in the city night of Monday, stayed for Tuesday’s morning Eid celebration, then left for Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.

Sinarimbo relayed to Eleazar per the PNA story regarding the MILG’s support for PRO-BARMM, among them construction of police stations, donation of police cars, assistance for the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
