We do not react.
This has been my consistent answer since last night to a barrage of questions about my reaction on the SONA (State-of-the-Nation Address) of the President (Rodrigo R. Duterte).
(The President delivered his last and final SONA in a joint session of Congress Monday, July 26, 2021.)
In reality, I have not fully watched the SONA as I was busy receiving and providing briefing to our guest Undersecretary Marjorie Jalosjos of the DILG (Department of Interior and Local Government) national. I also treated to a dinner last night our Local Government Operations Officer trainees from the BASULTA who are undertaking their SIMEX, one of the most difficult and crucial stages in their training to become full pledge LGOOs.
Today, I was also busy with meetings and handing over to our Regional Bureau of Fire Director an ambulance for their use in responding to emergencies and inspected 3 units of fire trucks for dispatch to the island provinces of Tawi Tawi, Sulu and Basilan.
I also open our Water Search and Rescue training for Sultan Kudarat municipality at the DTS. Our desalination machines also for the waterless municipalities in the island provinces arrived at Polloc Port.
And so yes, we will act and not merely react. This has been the story of our struggle. Some people would come along the way and help us move the struggle to a new phase and milestone. And we will forever be grateful to them. And at times they will not continue along the path of our struggle and would simply stop. We do not mind them either as the struggle of our people is set on a course self-contained in our way of life or ideology. It’s timeline spans beyond our lives as its beginning predates also our birth. We measure our success beyond this lifetime.
Our goal is clear — victory or martyrdom.
There is simply no defeat. (✓)
