(SDN) — In search of excellence for better government service, the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) conducted a three-day Strategic Planning Workshop (SPW) on November 3 to 5, 2021.
Lawyer Naguib G. Sinarimbo, MILG minister, led the activity held in a hotel in Davao City.
Aside from the MILG chief, participants included director general, service directors, division chiefs, provincial and assistant provincial heads, other technical staff, and Bangsamoro READi (Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence).
Here’s more details from Sinarimbo, who also speaks for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The planning workshop aimed to provide a clear sense of direction to the programs, projects and activities of the Ministry that need to be carried out, strengthen the personnel’s confidence in understanding where the organization is heading and what for, how best to make the organization move along the chosen path, and when should they take what measures to achieve the goals of the organization.
Strategic planning is the process of creating a plan in order to hit your strategic objectives. The strategic planning process has multiple parts; it involves gathering insight, developing strategy, and managing performances once the plan is in place. When you create and share a clear strategic plan with your team, you can:
– Align everyone around a shared purpose
– Proactively set objectives to help you get where you want to go
– Define long-term goals, and then set shorter-term goals to support them
– Assess your current situation and any opportunities — or threats
– Increase motivation and engagement
It can help create defined goals that would explain how the Ministry will move towards its mission and vision statements in the next three to five years. If you think of the MILG organization trajectory as a line on a map, a strategic plan can help better quantify how they will get from point A (where it is now) to point B (where it wants to be in a few years).
