(SDN) — More building projects are in the pipeline for the local government units (LGUs) of the Bangsamoro region.

As everyone knows), the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) covers Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi provinces, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi as well as 63 villages in North Cotabato designated as Special Geographic Area (SGA) in North Cotabato province.

It was created in January 2019 after a plebiscite as the region’s voters of the defunct Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) voted for BARMM’s establishment. The Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) created the new political entity (NPE) that replaced the ARMM, an implementation of the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement the Bangsamoro (CAB).

Various line agencies of the parliamentary Bangsamoro government since then have been carrying out their respective mandates to bring the war-weary people what is dubbed the dividends of peace — political, economic and social development initiatives.

In the case of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) under the leadership of Minister Naguib G. Sinarimbo has been implementing various construction projects throughout the region.

“We did the groundbreaking ceremony yesterday (February 3, 2022) for the construction of a Public Market in Barangay Gambar, Kabuntalan, Maguindanao,” he reported.
“We were joined by the Senior Minister and Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) Chief of Staff Sammy Gambar. This is his native town which has been the base of operation of his forces during the heydays of the revolution. In fact, his “nom de guerre” is taken from this place.”
Sinarimbo said the planned public market would serve many purposes.
“The project intends to provide the venue for exchange of goods and services in this community and spark economic activities in this place. For the LGU, this will give them an opportunity to exercise their corporate powers and increase their revenue streams apart from the traditional IRA (internal revenue allotment),” he added.
He said the MILG thanked those who are supporting the BARMM, including Cong. Datu Ronnie Q. Sinsuat, Bai Sandra Sema who championed the BOL during her stint in Congress, and the representative of Congressman Esmael Toto Mangudadatu ofBuluan, Maguindanao, who championed the extension of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) as they joined the groundbreaking ceremonies.
