(SDN) — Amid the pandemic the Philippines’ FEATI University is revving up its engines of knowledge as it hosts a visit on March 9, 2022 from the Tokyo Metro (東京メトロ, Tōkyō Metoro) and Philippine Railways Institute (PRI).
It can be recalled the 76 years old engineering educational institution, a sharer of technology and molder of minds, is a recipient of two Marunouchi Series 2 trains donated by Tokyo Metro Company.
Headed by President Adolfo Jesus R. Gopez, FEATI will use the train as training tool for its students taking up courses under its Railway programs.
The courses on the railway programs are:
- Bachelor of Science in Railways Engineering
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Railways Specialization
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with Railways Specialization
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical / Electronics Engineering with Railways Specialization
FEATI will also soon offer a Bachelor of Science in Railways Operations and Management.
FEATI can count on its various industry partners and partners, among them:

- Philippine Railway Institute (PRI)

- MRT Academy (Hong Kong)

The university is armed with equipment and technical assistance such as
- Donation of two (2) units of train coaches from the Marunouchi Line 2 of Tokyo Metro
- Certificate in Effective Improvement Method of Punctuality from Tokyo Metro Academy
- Executive Certificate in Asset Management from MTR Academy (HK)
- Professional Certificate in Operations & Engineering in Railways Service Provisions from MTR Academy (HK)
- Certificate in Railway Engineering ; An Integral Approach from TU Delft (https://online-learning.tudelft.nl/courses/railway-engineering-an-integral-approach/)
On Wikipedia it was learned that “Tokyo Metro is a major rapid transit system (RTS) in Tokyo, Japan, operated by the Tokyo Metro Co.” There are other RTS trains that operate in Tokyo but Tokyo Metro “has the higher ridership.”
Meanwhile, the DoTr operates the PRI, is “a rail transportation research and training center in the Philippines” dealing with research and development (R&D) focusing on the “management, operation, and maintenance of railways, and training of personnel in the rail transportation industry” (per DoTr).
