The former chief negotiator of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) reiterated the importance of education and imparting them to students.

“Cliché as it may seem, but education is the key to success. For education to become the main reason of success, it should address both worldly affairs and the affairs in the hereafter,” said Iqbal.

Earlier, the education chief of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) led the groundbreaking ceremonies for the construction of seven more school buildings in Maguindanao and North Cotabato, whose 63 barangays (villages) were designated Special Geographic Area (SGA) as part of the Bangsamoro region after voting and opting to join the newly-created political entity.

Iqbal said six schools will be built in Pikit, North Cotabato, and and one in the town of Rajah Buayan, Maguindanao.

Comprising the Bangsamoro region are Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi provinces, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi as well as the SGA in North Cotabato (though the province is not itself a part of the BARMM).

To continuously improve the delivery of education in the autonomous region being governed parliamentary style, more schools and teachers are needed as well as enable the MBHTE personnel to perform their duties and responsibilities towards that objective.

So, on March 10, 2022, the MBHTE received eight sports utility vehicles (SUVs) during the turnover ceremonies from members of the Parliament of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA). The BTA governs the BARMM.

Both the school buildings and the vehicles were sourced from the 2020 Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF), a mechanism to help address the needs and well being of the constituents of the BARMM under the leadership of Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim “Al-Hajj Murad” Ebrahim.

Parliament members Iqbal, Faiz Alauddin, Hatimil Hassan, Bainon Karon, Marjanie Macasalong, Atty. Tarhata Basman, Edrieza H.N. Rimbang, and Sahie Udjah each donated a unit of pickup truck to the education ministry.

The vehicles donated to the MBHTE.

It can be noted that every member of the BTA Parliament were given an opportunity to propose a project or a program that will be beneficial to their chosen ministry which will be subsidized under their respective TDIFs.

With the vehicles’ turnover it’s  expected to to help make it a bit easier and convenient in rendering and delivering educational services to the Bangsamoro constituents.

The BARMM was created by the Bangsamoro Organic Law BOL), which implemented the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), the final peace treaty between the MILF and the Philippine government, and achieved after 17 years of peace negotiations.

Likewise, the BOL abolished the unlamented Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and replaced by the BARMM. (✓)
