SDN — The Bangsamoro’s Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) has completed and turned over a Php8.9-million school buildings and facilities to the Municipality of Talayan, Maguindanao.
Headed by Minister Mohagher Iqbal, the MBHTE is one of the line agencies of the parliamentary-in-form Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), under which its wings are the basic, higher, and technical education.
One of the school buildings itself cost Php4,289,039.88 which was built as a “calamity-resilient” structure, according to the MBHTE, and is a new building of the Midtimbang Central Elementary School (MCES). Iqbal’s ministry also provided BARMM and Philippine flagpoles costing a total of Php72,568.04.
MBHTE sourced the school building funds from the Bangsamoro 2020 Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF).
Another structure is the 1-storey, two-classroom flagship school building built at the cost of Php4,238,297.21 taken from the MBHTE’s 2020 Contingent Fund.
Ministry looking to hire new school officials
Comprising the Bangsamoro region are Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi provinces, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi as well as 63 villages designated as Special Geographic Area (SGA) in North Cotabato province (which itself is not part of BARMM).
MBHTE has been constructing school buildings in the region, and upgrading already existing schools, many of which were neglected by previous administrations of the abolished Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). The BARMM replaced the 20-year-old ARMM by virtue of the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL).
Meanwhile, the MBHTE announced recently a need for hiring positions of Assistant School Division Superintendent and Education Program Supervisor for the Division of Maguindanao II.
Applicants should submit relevant documents on or before March 14, 2022 the MBHTE Regional Office, Iqbal’s Memorandum Circular No. 234, Series of 2022, said.
The education ministry will conduct interview on applicants to be scheduled later. — EKU (✓)
