(SDN) — The Bangsamoro government’s Rapid Emergency Action for Disaster Incidence (READi) has recently brought assistance to more than 90 Teduray residents in Barangay Fukol, Talayan, Maguindanao.

Strong wind and rain on March 16, 2022, destroyed the villagers’ houses in some barangays (villages) of the municipality, with some houses blown away, prompting a READi Team to act and respond.
The READi Team, accompanied by Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Staff Fuad D. Samola, went to the disaster-stricken villagers to distribute food assistance on March 19.
Samola said the affected Teduray tribe members are from Sitios Ampis, Bruwing, and Butaw of Barangay Fukol; Sitio Pumpong, Barangay Lanting; and Barangay Pugutan of the municipality.
After the distribution of aid, the villagers expressed their thanks to Bangsamoro READi and the leadership of BARMM for the immediate assistance. (A sitio is smaller than a barangay.)
Of the villagers who received assistance, Risan Clamor, 28 years old, with four children, summed up their harrowing experience wrought by the strong wind and rain.
“Nahihirapan po kami sa ngayon dahil wala na kaming mga bahay, nilipad na ng hangin.  Marami pong salamat sa inyo, dahil kayo po ay nagpagod pumunta dito at nabiyayaan kami ng tulong mula sa BARMM.”
(Translation: We are in a difficult situation today because we don’t houses anymore, the wind blew them away. Thank you so much because you cared to come here and brought us assistance from BARMM.)
Presently, the affected Teduray villagers erected makeshift shelters with canvas as roof beside their previous houses. EKU (/)
