MBHTE’s employees come from various areas of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), the new political entity (NPE) created through the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL), which in turn is the implementation of the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB).

Seventeen years of peace negotiations between the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and the Philippine Government (GPH) produced the CAB, as well as the 2012 Frame Agreement on the Bangsamoro (FAB).

The Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) under Chief Minister Ahod Balawag “Al-Hajj Murad” Ebrahim governs the BARMM until 2025, after its life was extended through congressional fiat, which the President approved.

BARMM is composed of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, and the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi as well as 63 barangays in North Cotabato that opted to join the BARMM as Special Geographic Area (SGA). North Cotabato is not part of the Bangsamoro region. (/)
