(SDN) — Starting the month of March 2022 Bangsamoro para teachers and ISAL teacher-asatidz shall receive their salaries through their Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP) ATM accounts.

Bangsamoro Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal.

The Bangsamoro Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) headed by Minister Mohager Iqbal announced this recently.

To implement this, Minister Iqbal issued Regional Memorandum No. 341, s. 2022, on March 28, 2022, titled “Mode of Salary Payment for ISAL Asatidz-Teachers and Para Teachers”.

“Para teachers and ISAL teacher-asatidz shall be receiving their salaries through their respective Land Bank ATM Savings Account,” he emphasized.

The education minister of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) directed R.M. No. 341 to “all director generals and all other concerned”

“Please be advised that the MBHTE shall no longer be issuing salary checks for para teachers and ISAL teacher-asatidz starting this month,” Minister Iqbal pointed out.

Meanwhile, Minister Iqbal also issued a number of other memoranda, among them R.M. No. 348, s. 2022 on the “Conduct of Monitoring and Evaluation Activities for the Implementation of Animating Change: 1001 Nights Program in BARMM”.

“As part of the implementation of the 1001 Nights Animated Cartoon Series for Grades 4-6, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Activities shall be conducted,” he said.

He stressed that schools named by the selected division offices were enjoined to participate in the activities.

The Bangsamoro top education executive addressed the memorandum to MBHTE officials Director General for Basic Education Abdullah P. Salik, Jr., Chief Yul Adelfo D. Olaya (Curriculum Implementation Division, and all schools division superintendents, and all other concerned personnel.

1001 Nights Program a helpful teaching guide

He explained the workings of the program that revolves on educational entertainment.

“The 1001 Nights Life Skills Civic Education (LSCE) Program is a multi-platform educational entertainment program that uses cartoons to teach 10 to 12-year-old children life skills and civic values, including non-violence, human rights, democracy, gender equality and the rule of law, in formal and informal learning environment,” said Minister Iqbal.

He added program covers an extensive monitoring and evaluation framework to measure the impact through a comprehensive process that includes pre- and post-testing.

“The program has been shown to improve teaching methodologies of teachers, stimulate critical thinking, enhance student and teacher enthusiasm for school and increase parent engagement in children’s education,” said Minister Iqbal.

It was also learned the 1001 Nights teaching and learning materials are meant to supplement the Bangsamoro learners’ current adaptive learning materials (ALMs). The program’s materials include a Teacher’s Guide, Curriculum Companion Book, Student Activity Book, and Audiovisual Animated Series.

Apparently, the BARMM’s 1001 Nights Program has references to the “One Thousand and One Nights”, a collection of Middle Eastern and South Asian stories and folk tales which were compiled in the Arabic language in the time of the Islamic Golden Age. (✓)
