Mindanao Peacebuilding Institute Seeks Volunteers for 2022 Training

DAVAO CITY — The Mindanao Peacebuilding Institute (MPI) is now seeking volunteers to staff its Secretariat for its 21st Annual Peacebuilding Training that will be held from October 10 – 21, 2022, at Mergrande Ocean Resort, at Bago Aplaya, Talomo District, Davao City.

As members of the Secretariat team, volunteers will enhance their knowledge and skills about peacebuilding and conflict transformation and learn from their interactions with participants from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds.

MPI is looking for persons who fit the following criteria:

Criteria for Volunteers:

Active involvement in community-based programs, preferably with nongovernmental organizations or peoples’ organizations.

Knowledge about peacebuilding/culture of peace activities preferred.

Openness to work in a multicultural setting and learn from this experience.

Willingness to work under pressure and during odd hours.

Ability to work in a team.

Ability to think on one’s feet and take initiative when necessary.

Good English written and oral communication skills.

Good computer skills, especially with

Microsoft Office and graphics programs.

Main Tasks:

During the Annual Peacebuilding Training, members of the Secretariat will serve as class assistants, class documenters, and photographers/videographers.

Dates:

The volunteers are needed from October 10 – 21, 2022. However, those selected have to commit to participating in the orientation, team building, and team evaluation, the details of which will be announced in the course of the selection process.

Accommodations and Transportation:

All volunteers will receive free board and lodging. MPI will only cover overland transportation expenses to and from Davao City for volunteers coming from Mindanao. Volunteers from Luzon, the Visayas, and other countries are responsible for their own travel costs.
