Japanese EdTech Firm Names 3 Filipinos as Quipper Super Teacher 2022

Quipper honors educators on National Teachers Month 2022 through eQuippED 2022 and its theme of eQuipping teachers for the future

MANILA – Remember the names: Alcher J. Arpilleda, Joselle C. Quizon, and Eliza O. Balaoro!

Who are they, you might ask? They are teachers, more appropriately, “Super Teacher”.

Arpilleda teaches at St. Paul University Surigao in Surigao City, Surigao del Norte; Quizon at The Refiner’s Christian School in Calauan, Laguna, Rizal; and Balaoro at Lyceum of Alcala, Cagayan.

On Friday, October 14, Quipper, a Japanese education technology (EdTech) company bestowed the honors to the mentor trio as this year’s Supper Teacher. This is in celebration of this year’s National Teachers’ Month observed from September 5 to October 5, jointly undertaken by Metrobank Foundation, Inc. and Department of Education (DepEd), along with various multi-sectoral groups.

With the feat, Chinese smartphone giant OPPO and the Japanese firm will provide the prizes each of the awardees will receive. They are Php10,000 in cash, an OPPO Pad Air, OPPO A57 phone, OPPO Enco Buds, and one-year subscription to ELSA Speak, an English-speaking coach on the language.

Quipper Philippines CEO Yusuke Tagaki announced the winners at an event in Makati City, Metro Manila.

The award is in recognition of “creative and innovative teachers who stood out using Quipper as their teaching tool amidst the pandemic” with the teachers who are most eligible hailed as the Quipper Super Teacher.

As super teachers they leverage Quipper solutions in giving life-long learning to their students as well as showing good human relations not only with their students but with all the stakeholders of the school.

“Most of all, the Quipper Super Teacher illustrated honesty, integrity, and passion in his professional teaching,” the EdTec firm pointed out.

The recognition is aimed at celebrating teachers and their endless passion to bring quality education and awarding those who have dedicated themselves to using Quipper and integrating technology in their classroom.

Thus, Quipper, a leading EdTech firm in Japan, Indonesia, and the Philippines, paid tributes to the winners’ dedication and passion as it celebrated National Teachers’ Month and World Teachers’ Day through eQuippED 2022.

For the Super Teacher Awards, those qualified to join are:

  • Must be a Filipino Citizen teaching in Grade 4 – 12 levels
  • Must have been teaching in the present school for at least 2 years which is a Quipper School Premium / Video Subscriber for at least 2 years
  • Must have been using both Quipper solutions – Platform and Content
  • Must have been an Active Teacher in using Quipper with minimum 10 assignments sent throughout SY 2021-2022
  • Must have good human relations with all the school’s stakeholders
  • Must have not been found guilty of any administrative or criminal offense

For this year, submission of nominations closed on September 30, while the winners were announced on October 14 at an event in Makati City, Metro Manila.

Teachers are one of the keys to creating a better future for the next generation. Online or offline, young minds are shaped into top-gun future world leaders, professionals, thinkers, contributors, and responsible citizens of every age through the guidance of the country’s hard-working and ever-dedicated educators. 

eQuipping Teachers for the Future

For National Teachers Month, Quipper provided a series of webinars that equip teachers with future-ready skills and engage them with the latest trends in education.

Among the much-awaited online seminar speakers were Christina Jimenez, with the topic Empower your teaching with education technology.” Held on September 5 at 9 a.m., the webinar aimed to help teachers learn how to maximize different education technologies to empower themselves as educators and create meaningful and engaging experiences. 

Meanwhile, Selene Estaris discussedThe Gamification of Learning” in the second episode of the webinar series scheduled staged on September 12. Estaris tackled how game-based learning or gamification can engage learners and promote deeper understanding that can make a long-lasting impact among students. 

Other topics in the following webinars included professional development, English enhancement, tips on managing mental health, digital transformations in schools, and updates on the education industry.
