COTABATO CITY (SDN) — Once-long been thirsty for physical governance structures, local government units (LGUs) of Muslim Mindanao can expect new government buildings until 2025 under the leadership of Chief Minister Al-Hajj Murad Ebrahim.
In fact, through the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG), the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM) has earmarked close to Php300 million for new construction projects in 2023. The fund is dubbed the OCM’s Support for Local Moral Governance (SLGM) Program.
Meanwhile, the MILG headed by Interior Minister Naguib G. Sinarimbo has already been spreading and distributing the “dividends of peace” in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) after the new political entity’s (NPE) establishment in 2019.
The “dividends of peace” in its physical implementation are Municipal Halls, Philippine National Police (PNP) Stations, Public Terminals, Public Markets, Tourism Centers, Barangay Halls, Seawater Desalination Facilities, Water Systems, and others.

Sinarimbo’s MILG has already completed many these construction projects in the five provinces of the autonomous region. More are coming, he said.
In relation with this, the MILG chief with BARMM Senior Minister Abdulraof “Sammy Gambar” Macacua and the LGU of Buldon, Maguindanao del Norte, led by Mayor Phmia Manalao and Vice Mayor Abolais Manalao broke the ground for a Public Market and four Barangay Halls for the municipality.
The groundbreaking on December 17, said Sinarimbo, jumpstarted the start of the construction of the five buildings.
BARMM Gov’t assures Buldon of responding to their needs
“These projects are part of the priorities which are funded by the BARMM Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Al-Hajj Murad Ebrahim, which the MILF is implementing in collaboration with the region’s LGUs,” the MILF head said.
Sinarimbo said the Barangay Hall Building projects are aimed at providing appropriate governance havens for the barangays (villages) and improve their services to the citizens.
The Public Market, on the other hand, he added, like the one being built in Buldon, is aimed at perking up business, commerce, and livelihood of the citizens and help the region’s municipalities achieve progress.
Sinarimbo recalled the sacrifices of the Buldon LGU and its residents during the war waged by the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) for self-determination against the Philippine government.
“Buldon is one of the municipalities that sacrificed through its embrace of (MILF) ‘mujahideen’ (fighters) and its camp. Because of this, the town suffered considerable damage.
“Senior Minister Abdulraof Macacua pointed out that it is only appropriate that in the time of the MILF governance it should address the needs of the citizens of Buldon,” said Sinarimbo.
The MILG chief assured that the BARMM is one with the people of Buldon in their dreams to attain economic progress. (/)
