Bangsamoro Project IQBAL Distributes Equipment to 467 Schools in SDO Marawi City and Lanao Sur 1

COTABATO CITY — Led by Minister Mohagher M. Iqbal, the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) stepped up its initiatives in addressing the needs of schools in the Bangsamoro region.
         Iqbal, also a Member of Parliament (MP) of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) has assured time and again that education is one of the priorities of the Bangsamoro government.

The region is a new political entity (NPE) dubbed the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB). It is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the 63 barangays or villages dubbed Special Geographic Area (SGA) that voted “yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.

According to the Philippine Atlas has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur.

In addressing the needs of the various schools in the BARMM the MBHTE, one of the primary governance organ of the Bangsamoro government, has a number of initiatives, including Project Improve Quality Education in the Bangsamoro Land, or Project IQBAL.

As part of the continuous endeavor of the ministry to provide learning materials and equipment for the implementation of the full face-to-face classes in BARMM through Project IQBAL, the MBHTE through its Property and Supply Section delivered and distributed Learning Continuity Plan Supplies & Equipment in the Schools Division of Marawi City and Lanao Del Sur 1.

For Lanao Del Sur 1, 417 schools and the Schools Division Office (SDO) were among the beneficiaries of the delivery and distribution of equipment of Project IQBAL, such as:

  • 11,321 units Of Ultramax Android Tablet
  • 844 units of Wall Fan
  • 428 units of Printer
  • 428 sets of Desktop Computers (All in One)
  • 420 units of Wall Clock
  • 428 pieces of Tumblers
    11 sets of Kyocera Ecosys Digital Duplicator with sets of Ink Supplies Toner Kit (All In 1),
  • 10 units of Laptop Computers,
  • 3 units of Water Dispensers,
  • 2 units of UV Lamps3 units of Air Purifier

For Marawi City, 50 schools and the Schools Division Office were among the beneficiaries. The following were provided:

  • 900 units of Ultramax Android Tablet
  • 110 units of Wall Fan
  • 60 units of Printer60 sets of Desktop (Allin One)
  • 52 units of Wall Clock
  • 60 units of Tumbler
  • 11 sets of Kyocera Ecosys Digital Duplicator
  • 10 units of Laptop Computer
  • 3 units of Water Dispenser
  • 2 units of UV Lamps
  • 3 units of Air Purifier
  • 4-door Lateral Steel Filing Cabinet.
The Ministry ensures that all schools divisions are entitled to receive equipment and materials and will be delivered to them by schedule, the MBHTE assured. EKU with report from MBHTE (✓)
