Bangsamoro MBHTE to Rehabilitate Sports Facilities of Cotabato State University 

COTABATO CITY, 20th February 2023 — After today’s signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) in the city between the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) and Cotabato State University (CSU), the former will rehabilitate the latter’s sports facilities to be used for educational and other related activities.

         The CSU, represented by its President Dr. Dilna Sema, signified its willingness to assist and work closely with the Ministry’s Bureau of Physical Education and Sports Development (BPESD) for the improvement of sports facilities which will serve as venues for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Athletic Association (BARMMAA) Meet, Training of Teacher-Coaches and Learner-Athletes of BARMM in their sports activities, and other related activities of MBHTE, in particular, and BARMM Government, in general.

         Amounting to Php7.37 million, the repair of the sports facilities shall include the grandstand, court canal granting, track and field, swimming pool, comfort rooms, and fences.

        The Bangsamoro region, established in 2018 by the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL) to implement the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), is made up of the provinces of Basilan, Lanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, the cities of Cotabato, Lamitan, and Marawi, as well as the 63 barangays or villages dubbed Special Geographic Area (SGA) that voted “yes” in a plebiscite in February 2019 to be under the BARMM jurisdiction.

According to the Philippine Atlas has 4,404,288 people. It has 116 municipalities: Basilan, 11 municipalities; Lanao del Sur, 39; Maguindanao, 36; Sulu, 19; and Tawi-Tawi, 11. Its component cities are Cotabato (the regional center and capital) in Maguindanao; Lamitan in Basilan; and Marawi in Lanao del Sur. (✓)
