NCMF-North Luzon Supports Conversion of Land to Public Cemetery for Muslims

NORZAGARAY, Bulacan — National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF)-North Luzon, under the leadership of Regional Director Atty. Raihanah Sarah T. Macarimpas-Pacasum, through the Pampanga Provincial Office, led by Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Atty. Abbas S. Macadatar attended the public hearing on the proposed conversion of a parcel of land for a public Muslim cemetery held on May 26, 2023, at the Office of the Board Member Romeo V. Castro, Jr., Lalawigan ng Bulacan.The subject matter of the Hearing was Ordinance No. 2023-03-03 of the Sangguaniang Bayan ng (Municipal Council of) Norzagaray, which aims to reclassify a 15,075 sq. m. parcel of land owned by the Islamic Public Cemetery from agricultural use to institutional purposes.

During the summary hearing, OIC Macadatar expressed the office’s support for the proposed ordinance, highlighting the need of our Muslim brothers and sisters’ need for more Islamic Cemetery to accommodate the growing Muslim population in Bulacan and nearby provinces.

In response, Board Member Castro, Jr., Tagapangulo — Lupon ng Gamit Lupa (Head — Unit on Land Use), reassured the office and the Muslim community leaders that the proposed bill would be presented to the Sanggunian for final approval once the required documentary requirements are submitted.

Chief Onos Balang and Gary Salacop accompanied OIC Macadatar, while the community leaders present included Sheikh Eduardo “Arceo,” Elvira Maruhombsar, and others. (/)
